A woman who sold herself a winning EuroMillions ticket turned to cheating the state when she her winnings ran out, a court has heard.
Hayley Tarry, who was 25 when won £512,089 on a Friday the 13th draw in 2006, turned to benefits fiddling when her cash dried up.
She claims to have invested the winnings in property, paid off debts and given her family treats.
Lucky spot: The store once owned by Hayley Tarry where she sold herself a winning EuroMillions ticket in 2006. However, she has been convicted of falsely claiming benefits since her winnings ran out.
But magistrates at Blackpool, Lancs heard that Tarry - who now lives in Munich - was paid £10,000 in Jobseekers Allowance and Council Tax Benefit she should not have received.
Tarry, who is a keen brass band member, pleaded guilty to two offences of failing to disclose a change of circumstances to the Department of Work and Pensions and Blackpool Council.
Victoria Cartmell, prosecuting, said a Proceeds of Crime Order will be applied for against Tarry.
That order has to be applied for at a Crown Court where she will also be sentenced.
Tarry won the money when she ran a newsagents and general store on Fleetwood Road, Cleveleys near Blackpool.
She was given her cheque by Emerdale actress Deena Payne who played Viv Hope.
Tarry who then used her unmarried surname of Barker said at the time: 'I will always remain a humble newsagent. Some one has to win it was just lucky it was me.
'It's really strange, but something good always happens to me on Friday 13th. And since a money spider had walked across my hand earlier that day, in my mind I knew I was in for a win on EuroMillions.'
