In a set-up by controversial Republican filmmaker James O’Keefe, who has released secret videotapes of Planned Parenthood and social services grassroots organization ACORN, two top NPR execs talk some major smack on the Republican party and Tea Party movement.
This doesn't look good for National Public Radio, which receives $90 million of federal tax money each year.
It especially doesn't look good since the foundation is currently defending itself against Congressional Republicans who are trying to cut federal funding for local stations because they believe they are biased.
During a meeting with members of the fictitious Muslim Education Action Center Trust, who claim they want to donate $5 million to public media, the NPR's senior VP of development, Ron Schiller, says the Republican party has been "hijacked" by the Tea Party which are "seriously racist, racist people."
Oops!
Schiller is particularly flattering toward liberals as he says:
"Liberals today might be more educated, fair and balanced, than conservatives."
We can't argue with that! Ha!
Unfortunately for Schiller, National Public Radio can. Dana Davis Rehm, a spokeswoman for NPR, told the New York Times in a statement:
“We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for.”
It looks like these two executives may have been unfairly placed in a situation where they felt they could discuss their own personal beliefs without reflecting negatively on their employers, but decide for yourself and watch the interview above!
Are these two execs biased or were they victims of political entrapment?
